Long-distance bus terminal Vienna
A dynamic sculpture
The position of the high point is at the intersection of two urban directions, the main supra-regional direction parallel to the Danube and Handelskai and the striking curve of the Engerthstraße/Marathonweg road towards the banks of the Danube. The adaptive building geometry is based on the inclusion of these two directions: The straight line is continued in the upper section of the high-rise, which can also be experienced from a distance, while the building adapts to its immediate surroundings as a curve in the base area.

City edge and river terrace
In its location at the transition between the urban space and the Danube recreational area, the high-rise formulates a clear vertical façade on the city side and creates a landscape-like, stepped gesture towards the Danube. This stepping down enables a response to the neighbouring buildings: good lighting and a clear view for the residential buildings on Marathonweg and the inclusion of the scale of the Mehler restaurant.

A connection between urban space and natural space
An attractive design of the open spaces and (semi-)public outdoor areas is planned. The large roof area of the terminal is greened, as are areas of the building. The spacious terrace areas facing the Danube in particular offer high-quality amenity areas.
The connecting bridge over the Handelskai is designed as an attractive continuation of the elegant sweep of the building and is thus seen as an integral part of the building from an architectural point of view. The bridge spans without supports between the building and the embankment in order to maximise flexibility for the railway and Handelskai in the long term.
