Laboratory Building Himberg
Function meets genetics
Our competition entry for the small animal laboratory at MedUni Vienna is a two-storey, functionally optimised building with a striking exterior appearance appropriate to its use. A continuous façade system connects the two separate structures – the main building and the technical centre – to form an architectural unit. The façade is composed of closed and perforated vertical aluminium panels and transparent glass elements. Its structure is inspired by the appearance of the mouse DNA pattern and visually references the building's function as a research laboratory.
