School in the park – park in the school

The "school in the park - park in the school" concept forms the basis of the design: The organic building structure merges with nature, creating flowing transitions between indoor and outdoor spaces. From Hermann-Dorner-Allee to the green open space, the learning and communal areas are deliberately orientated towards nature and open up light-flooded, well-ventilated spaces for the pupils, inviting them to identify with and appropriate them. At the same time, the urban grain mediates between the nearby detached houses and the commercial area on the other side of the avenue, creating a harmonious transition between the different scales.

Learning in dialogue with nature

The learning neighbourhood is modularly divided into different "compartments", which function as small schools within the large community school. This clear spatial structure offers the pupils orientation and promotes individual forms of learning. Flexibly usable learning landscapes, places of retreat and open forums create space for project work, creative forms of teaching and social interaction. All rooms are designed in such a way that they can be used optimally thanks to double-sided lighting and cross-ventilation. In addition, the educational rooms dovetail with the outdoor areas such as the school garden, sports park and various themed open spaces, which integrate the use of nature into everyday learning.

The sustainable construction of the project is particularly noteworthy. Designed as a timber-concrete hybrid building, the school combines ecological responsibility with high functionality. The prefabricated timber construction elements ensure a fast and resource-saving construction method. Extensive green roofs and a photovoltaic system on the sports halls reduce energy consumption and support the climate-friendly concept of the building.
